A native of Denver, Westen Borghesi came to Austin in the summer of 1999 after spending a dreary nine years in Seattle. With a newly found love for the four stringed tenor banjo and all music of the pre-WWII era, he came to Austin with high hopes in pursuing his recent obsession. Meeting other co-founder his second day in town, Westen started local early roots and vaudeville act White Ghost Shivers. Since then, he has been in other local acts inspired by early 20th century music such as Shorty Long, Asylum Street Spankers, and East Side Dandies. More recently, he has been touring internationally with New Orleans favorites, Tuba Skinny. He is also the founder of local all vinyl retro dance party, Second Sunday Sock Hop. Other works in the arts include theater, dance, and film. He loves his dog too.
